DeepCool AG400 BK ARGB Single Tower 120mm CPU Cooler

DeepCool AG400 BK ARGB Single Tower 120mm CPU Cooler

The DeepCool AG400 BK ARGB is a high-performance single-tower CPU air cooler designed to provide efficient thermal management for modern desktop processors. Featuring four 6mm direct-touch heat pipes, a dense aluminium fin stack and a 120mm PWM ARGB fan, it combines strong cooling capability with quiet operation and an attractive all-black design.

With support for up to 220W of heat dissipation, the AG400 BK ARGB is suitable for gaming PCs, productivity systems, workstation builds and performance-focused desktop computers. Its compact 125 × 92 × 150mm footprint is designed to maintain excellent component compatibility while providing 100% RAM clearance according to DeepCool.

The integrated addressable RGB lighting adds a customisable visual element for gaming builds, while the PWM-controlled fan automatically adjusts its speed according to CPU temperature and workload. The result is a practical balance between cooling performance, acoustic efficiency, compatibility and aesthetics.

DeepCool AG400 BK ARGB CPU Cooler Overview

The AG400 BK ARGB belongs to DeepCool's AG400 family of single-tower CPU coolers. Instead of using a bulky dual-tower heatsink, it employs a streamlined tower design with four copper heat pipes that directly contact the processor. This allows heat to be transferred rapidly from the CPU into the aluminium fin array, where the 120mm fan dissipates it into the surrounding airflow.

The black-coated heatsink gives the cooler a clean appearance that works particularly well with dark gaming cases and RGB components. Its ARGB fan can also complement other illuminated hardware when connected to a compatible 5V 3-pin addressable RGB header.

Four Direct-Touch Heat Pipes

At the heart of the DeepCool AG400 BK ARGB are four 6mm copper heat pipes that make direct contact with the CPU. This direct-touch configuration helps transfer heat away from the processor quickly and efficiently.

The heat pipes use DeepCool's balanced bidirectional heat pipe technology, which is designed to maintain effective heat transfer regardless of whether the cooler is installed in a vertical or horizontal case orientation. This helps provide consistent thermal performance across a wide range of desktop configurations.

Up to 220W Heat Dissipation

DeepCool rates the AG400 BK ARGB for up to 220W of heat dissipation. This gives the cooler considerably more thermal capacity than a basic stock CPU heatsink and makes it suitable for a wide variety of mainstream and performance-oriented processors.

Actual CPU temperatures will vary according to the processor, workload, ambient temperature, case airflow, thermal interface material, motherboard settings and other components. The 220W figure should therefore be considered the cooler's rated thermal capability rather than a guarantee of a particular CPU temperature.

120mm PWM High-Efficiency Fan

The included 120mm fan is designed to provide a strong balance between airflow, static pressure and acoustic performance. It operates between 500 and 2000 RPM with a maximum airflow rating of 75.89 CFM and maximum air pressure of 2.53 mmAq.

The fan uses a 4-pin PWM connector, allowing compatible motherboards to automatically regulate fan speed according to CPU temperature and system workload. At lighter workloads, the fan can run at a lower speed for quieter operation, while heavier CPU loads can trigger increased airflow for improved cooling.

Quiet Cooling Performance

DeepCool specifies a maximum fan noise level of 31.6 dB(A). Combined with PWM speed control, this makes the AG400 BK ARGB suitable for users who want strong cooling without relying on a fan that operates continuously at maximum speed.

The hydro bearing design also contributes to smooth fan operation. For everyday activities such as browsing, office applications and media playback, the fan can operate at lower speeds, while gaming and processor-intensive workloads can benefit from increased airflow.

Addressable RGB Lighting

The AG400 BK ARGB includes addressable RGB lighting for users who want to add visual effects to their gaming PC. The lighting uses a standard 3-pin 5V ARGB connector and can be connected to a compatible motherboard or ARGB controller.

Because the lighting is addressable, compatible systems can control individual LED zones to create a range of lighting effects. This makes the cooler a good visual match for modern gaming cases, RGB memory, illuminated fans and other components featuring 5V addressable RGB connectivity.

Black Single-Tower Design

The AG400 BK ARGB features a black-coated single-tower heatsink with DeepCool's matrix fin design. The dense aluminium fins provide a large surface area for transferring heat into the airflow generated by the fan.

Its relatively compact structure also makes it easier to integrate into a wide range of PC builds than larger dual-tower CPU coolers. The overall cooler dimensions are 125 × 92 × 150mm, while the heatsink itself measures 120 × 92 × 150mm.

Excellent RAM Compatibility

One of the useful characteristics of the AG400 BK ARGB is its memory-friendly design. DeepCool states that the cooler provides 100% RAM clearance, helping reduce interference with memory modules during installation.

This can be especially beneficial for gaming PCs using RGB memory modules or systems with four DIMM slots populated. Compared with some larger CPU coolers that extend over the memory area, the AG400's offset design offers a more flexible installation arrangement.

Simple Installation

The AG400 BK ARGB uses a simplified mounting system designed for both Intel and AMD platforms. Its fan-lock mounting system allows the fan to remain installed during the cooler installation process, helping make assembly quicker and more convenient.

The offset heat pipe arrangement also contributes to easier installation. This is useful for PC builders who want a capable tower cooler without the installation complexity associated with larger multi-tower cooling systems.

DeepCool AG400 BK ARGB Specifications

Intel CPU Compatibility

The DeepCool AG400 BK ARGB supports several Intel desktop platforms, including LGA1700, LGA1200, LGA1151, LGA1150 and LGA1155. This gives it broad compatibility across multiple generations of Intel processors.

For a new PC build, users should verify the exact socket and motherboard platform before purchase. The mounting hardware supplied with the particular retail package should also be checked if the cooler is being installed on an older platform.

AMD CPU Compatibility

For AMD systems, the AG400 BK ARGB supports AM5 and AM4 sockets. This makes it suitable for many Ryzen desktop configurations, including modern AM5 gaming builds and compatible AM4 systems.

For example, the cooler can be considered for mainstream Ryzen gaming systems where an efficient tower air cooler is preferred over the bundled stock cooler or a larger dual-tower solution.

Gaming PC Performance

The AG400 BK ARGB is a practical choice for gaming PCs where maintaining stable CPU temperatures during extended workloads is important. Games can place sustained or rapidly changing loads on the processor, particularly when paired with a powerful graphics card and high refresh-rate gaming setup.

The combination of four direct-touch heat pipes, a dense fin array and a 120mm PWM fan gives the cooler enough thermal capacity for a broad range of gaming-oriented processors. Proper case airflow remains important because the cooler ultimately transfers CPU heat into the surrounding air.

Suitable for Productivity and Workstation Builds

Beyond gaming, the AG400 BK ARGB can be used in desktop systems handling office applications, programming, content creation, photo editing, rendering and other processor-intensive workloads. Its 220W rated heat dissipation capability gives builders additional thermal headroom compared with entry-level CPU coolers.

For extremely high-power CPUs under sustained all-core workloads or aggressive overclocking, a larger premium air cooler or liquid cooling solution may be more appropriate. For mainstream performance systems, however, the AG400 BK ARGB offers a strong balance of size and cooling capability.
